We skin all of the deer at our deer camp like this. We hang all of our deer and sometimes leave them hang for a week. By using this method it doesn't make any difference if the hide is cold. The only thing different we do is hang our deer by the back legs and then cut around the tail and tie the rope to the knot that the tail makes when it is cut off. Helps keep almost all of the hair off the deer. We have been doing this for years.
