Both of my senators have been hassled at home by protesters (one D one R) pols are often accosted at restaurants and Trump's daughter was while flying with her kids. So far it seems protesters are ignored and they go away.

Personally I don't think people should be harrassed at home or in public.
People need a private life. A large police presence could well attract bigger crowds.
A small old catholic church was burnt down overnight.
