Kind of obscure, the song did much better than the TV program it was for.

    The Heights

”How Do You Talk To An Angel”

Yep, posted that song by Bonnie Raitt yesterday morning (see page 1 of this thread).

The Gin Blossoms "Found Out About You" was also on page 1 of this thread. I was inspired to sing it on stage for the first time. Also, I picked a Neil Diamond last night because of yesterday's discussion. These music threads often influence my weekly karaoke choices and vice versa.

        "Say It Ain't So"

Say it ain't so, Joe please
        Say it ain't so
I'm sure they're telling us lies Joe please tell us it ain't so.

They told us that our hero has played his trump card
He doesn't know how to go on.
We're clinging to his charm and determined smile
But the good ol' days are gone.

The army and the empire may be falling apart
        The money has gotten scarce.
One man's word held the country together
But the truth is getting fierce.

If only Joe could be the American that this Joe was ...

            Joltin' Joe DiMaggio - YouTube

(Doesn't fit the theme, but I thought of it because I mistakenly thought that "Say It Ain't So, Joe" was the song written about Dimaggio when he announced he was leaving baseball. I think there still might have been a song with that title or similar but I can't find it.)

                  "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

                  Mama told me,
                  When I was young,
                  "Come sit beside me,
                  My only son,
                  And listen closely,
                  To what I say.
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day, oh, yeah.

Ours, too. There's a picture of me somewhere at age 4 or 5, hair slicked back like Bowser, doing the muscle-flex and singing the "Du-du-du-do-doo" beginning of "Goodnight, Sweetheart." And it just dawned on me, that might have been the beginning of this music-impersonation thing. Before the Bruce Springsteen days, my best friend in 7th grade and I did ZZ Top for the end-of-year talent show. Paper beards, fedoras, cardboard guitars with pink insulation glued on for the fuzz. We did the song "Legs." That didn't go over very well with a couple of the older teachers but the younger ones and all the kids loved it.

If it was the 80s, even the bad was good. "Knight Rider" was on some channel a while ago and I sat right there and watched it.

The 80's were great! Had a lot of fun and adventures during that decade. That includes a short affair with the wife of a Sinclair Oil VP. I was 26, she was 40.

Here's a song that fits the topic.

I can even make it fit in.
