  • Heating System

If you have a forced air heating system you should have an air filter. With the heavy heating season upon us remember to change the filter. A MERV rated filter of 13 (.3 micron) or better is rated to stop viruses. Good idea to change it every month untill the worst of the cold is over. What I do is use a cheap filter of same size in front of NERV 13 filter and that catches all the large particles. Makes the more expensive 13 filter last longer. Check your filters with a flashlight, you judge how much life it has left by estimating the light transmitted through. There are also alarms available that sound when resistance of air flow iuncreases.
Remember, don't jar filter removing it and taking to the trash - it can release what it has captured and put back in the house. Tip: there are tacky filter sprays that help the filter hold the contamination. It also works on car filters.
