I've never worked around blast furnaces but a cupola furnace was used in the pipe foundry I worked in 1985.

Well, there you go. His style is unique, and he favored 30's and 40's hits. Saw him live twice, simple orchestration. Piano and trombone one time, the other was piano and a side man with talent guitar and sax. Maybe too much collage radio in the 80's.
