Another Leon Redbone song, and more uptempo.

A hot time in the old town tonight.

Coincidences again. Fitch just mentioned our State Fair, and Michael Martin Murphy was performing the first time I ever went to the State Fair, and it was also the first time I was ever at a famous singer's live concert. We were just walking past, actually, but he was singing "Wildfire" at the time. I remember my sister kept singing it on and off for the next week.

Don't know what others' State Fairs are like, but one great thing about ours is, they have free concerts at a couple of different courtyards on the grounds. It was always a good lineup, but even better in recent years as they put more of the budget into paying bands. Some pretty big-name shows for free -- Blue Oyster Cult's a yearly regular -- and you just stroll on over from the fried-dough stand or BBQ joint and get your groove on.

Anyway. Here's the song I first thought of.

              Soothing, eh?

Hey, here's a new band for me -- just discovered when I typed "Fire and Rain" into the YouTube search box. It's fiery, all right.

Bad Company - No smoke without fire

Oh oh, there's no smoke without a fire,
and there's no heat without a flame
Oh oh, there's no love without desire,
but I won't play your games

Sweet! Must be 20 years since I’ve heard this but knew exactly what it was when I went to it.
