  • TGIF; Cover Tunes

So the deal is like I mentioned at the end of last week’s TGIF, post up two versions of the same song.

The original would be great but in some cases there might be several versions so whatever works for you.

Starting it off with one from Bob Seger’s album “Back in 1972”

    “Turn the Page”

    And from Metallica’s 1998 album
”Garage Inc.” (a collection of covers actually)

    Live version

    Blondie “Heart of Glass”

    off 1978’s album “Parallel Lines”

Covered by Miley Cyrus during 2020’s
    iHeart Radio Concert

This isn’t really a third version but is a mash up of the other two videos posted. Pretty cool how they do these.

This one gets a major overhaul.

          Tommy James and the Shondells

          “Mony Mony” from 1968

Turned into a Party Classic by Billy Idol, he originally released on his first EP “Don’t Stop” in 1981, then rereleased off his “Vital Idol” in 1987 as a live version and took it to #1 on the charts.

Wasn't it awesome? One of my favorite covers. Wishing I could sing it like that... 😁

About time to change it up to some Country Music.

Dolly Parton originally did this in 1974 but this was live in 1988. Song called “Jolene”

Ms. Cyrus again, toned down a bit around eight years ago on her “Backyard Sessions”

And we’ll flip this back to Dolly Parton

Originally from the band Collective Soul from 1993’s “Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid”

                          Song called “Shine”

                          Ms. Parton’s version

'Mack the Knife' (originally composed for a German Opera) - My favorite version was done by Louis Armstrong in 1955 and that's how I perform it.

But of course Bobby Darin's 1959 version is the most popular.
