  • Would You Support a Government Mandated Vaccination Program? Poll

I was surprised to read a public opinion survey and see that something like 45% of Republicans would support a mandate. The polling was done with 20,000 people in all states and polling representative Demographics and conducted by amongst other Harvard Med School, Northeastern, Rutgers, Northwestern.

Besides the obvious partisan split surprises were that Americans overwhelmingly support it (65%). I'd assume it would cost a pol too many votes from those who don't support. Support has gone up in the past 2 months. Support strongly correlates with education and income, poor people don't want the vax, those making six figures do by 77%, same with education. 72% of those over 65.

More Data on mostly vaccination, but also infection and death to a lesser extent, through the lense of race and ethnicity. A good chart is the state by state breakdown which is halfway down the page. A lot for liberal states to be embarrassed about there.

Notice how across the board Asians get vaccinated much more, they also score higher on standard IQ and SAT tests. They aint stupid.

Why not ? A kid needs a MMR shot to get into school - that shot is not without risk. Life is a risk, then you die.

Covid is political in a way the MMR never has been. When something becomes tribal people will go to great lengths to remain within the tribe. Some of the bedside interviews would be funny if it weren't such a serious subject. Middle aged guy swears up and down that covid is all fake and he'd never get the vaccine after a 2 week battle with oxygen, intubation, etc.

Tyson, employer of 100,000 just announced a vaccine requirement. I haven't been keeping track but more and more employers and govt agencies are requiring vaccination or the coercive alternative of being tested 15 times a day at your own expense.

I notice too the moving average of vaccinations is up from 275K to 420K in 2 weeks. Hospitalizations at highest number since February.
