  • Memories come to me in splurges!

This was a Bob Wills "wanna-be". He was pretty good and a regional favorite.

Ernest Tubb and the Texas Troubadours - "Thanks Alot"
We called him "Sincere Bucket and the Texas 2×4's".

    • Ray Price was smooth as silk. Got to see him at the Rio Palm Isle in Longview, TX a couple of times. Always a great show.

There are a couple local country bands that I keep thinking of from checking out your posts. For some reason I keep wanting to pop a top. Well, it is Saturday night now…..

Chet Atkins - "finger picking medley" Chet was one of the top 10 "finger picking" guitarist in the world.

Strange you should say that! LOL!

Jim Ed Brown - "Pop A Top Again"

              https://youtu.be/nOlZgr9vwgY

When I was young and smart(👀?), the trick was to "pop a top" every time Jim Ed Brown sang "pop a top again" and finish that beer before he sang the line again!
Best I remember, he sings it four times. Four beers in three plus minutes! That's tough!

              • Another east Texas regional favorite.
He played a lot of the old beer joints. Some of them pretty rough. The crowd would always request "Cotton Eyed Joe" to dance to.
One part of the song, all the dancers yelled "BULL S#!T"! Tony would always announce if he heard BS once, he'd stop the music.
There was always at least one drunk that couldn't keep his/her mouth shut! LOL!

                Tony Douglas - "Shrimpin'"

                https://youtu.be/QXyPqKPJwHk

He mentored a young lady that I knew. She was doing well and opened for him several times, but she couldn't keep her nose clean.
No drugs or alcohol, but goofy crap. Petty theft, shop lifting, gas drive offs, etc, etc.
She was cute, had a great voice and a great future and threw it all away. Sad.

I had a brief phase with alternative rock, some of the stuff was really good but a bit much as a whole. Still pull some CD’s out once In awhile, have that one.

Eight tracks? How about 4 track tapes? Remember them?
I had 2 new vehicles with factory 8 tracks in them.
I probably "melted" more 8 track tapes than I ever actually bought.
East Texas in the summer time was not a good place to store 8 track tapes in an automobile!
I finally bought an 8 track stereo for the house and wouldn't put tapes in my car/pickup.
Then, here came the cassette. The cases weren't near as bad about warping, but you were constantly digging tape out of your tape player!
When CD's first came out, if you hit a bump in the road, it skipped like and old 33RPM record! LOL!
....but the heat doesn't seem to affect CD's.
I just don't like "canned" music anymore.
                              ...and guess what?
                              Vinyl is coming back!

Yes sir, fitch270, them wuz the gud ol dayz! 😛! LOL!
