  • ERCOT HAS to go!

ERCOT - Electric Reliability Council of Texas is requesting that electrical consumers to "conserve energy" this week due to several generating plants being "offline(?)"!

...and it's not even HOT yet!

When Gov Abbott (R-TX) asked the EPA for permission to bring more fossil fuel plants online during the "Big Freeze", the EPA said, "Sure! But you have to charge $1500/kwh to offset the pollution factor."
Texans froze and suffered between Abbott, ERCOT and the EPA!

ERCOT is a bunch of non Texan Green Energy weenies!

#1 Bubba, you could place just as much blame on greg grabbit. Who was the final authority that allowed that bunch of carpet baggin' green weenies in here? Was he the type of Governor that Trump was a president, he would have told the EPA to go piss up a rope, and brought the plants on line, anyway. Told the EPA to send him a bill. Just as much of the blame for the suffering of Texans goes on grabbit as it does the greenie weenies and the usless EPA.
We can but hope that with this monumental fuster cluck, he has killed, forever and ever, his chance to ever win the Republican nomination for president.

Why would Texas agree to this green energy deal. Seems kinda stupid if your main business is oil and gas.

Because Gov Abbott, though not a "Never Trumper", has a tendency to "go along to get along".
Sadly, when he pulls that crap, it ends up adversely affecting millions of Texans.

Trump surrounded himself with advisors who gave him info to help make the best decision possible.
Abbott also has advisors, but all too often, he doesn't listen and goes off on his own tangent and gets "wishy-washy".

For the most part, Abbott has been a pretty fair governor, but when he falls off the garden cart, he goes straight to the compost pile!

Simple answer, greg grabbit is trying to play all sides of the question, hoping for a presidential bid, or at least a vice presidential spot, in 2024. Satisfy the oil and gas interest, satisfy the green weenies, satisfy the political elite, satisfy whatever voting bloc.
This time, he got bit in the butt, big time. It may be fixing to happen again, with power providers warning customers to cut back on electrical use in the midst of a regular June heat wave. Power goes down in the summer, the mobs will be out in Austin with torches and pitchforks. grabbit has brought all this upon himself. Current temperature at 10:24 AM, 90°, and rising.

You are going to have a hot summer when your A/C won't work.

                I was raised without AC!
Saturday's were a treat. We went to the Texas Theater, watched a 35 cent movie (2 or 3 times!) and soaked up the A/C!
Pop's old 1/2 ton pickup sure was a hot ride home!

Yep. Nothing I haven't endured before. I was raised without AC, spent time in Louisiana, Southeast Asia, and Africa without AC, and would miss it if I didn't have it. But, I would live through it, have before, probably will again.
More worrisome than being without AC power is being without power for deep freezers and refrigerators. Losing a food supply is a lot more serious than being a little bit uncomfortable.
