  • There are still thousands if not millions of people who don't buckle up, or under. Some of us don't see where in the Constitution the federal government, or the state government gets the authority to make us.

    • I just checked and found that the authority is derived from the Necessary and Proper clause in Section 8 of Article. I.

      • Today is probably the day we topped 200K dead on the Johns Hopkins chart which is the one most everyone uses. Won't show up till tomorrow but we are still averaging 700 a day and yesterday's total brought us to 199,500. Our big State University just went into a 2 week online only and some of the Greeks are quarantined.

        • From slimy nine: "I just checked and found that the authority is derived from the Necessary and Proper clause in Section 8 of Article. I."

          slimy, you are truly an idjit of the lowest mentality. Since there are no mentions of sickness, quarantine, measures of dealing with epidemic or pandemic in the entirety of the text of Section 8, the necessary and proper clause on the end of the section does not and cannot apply. You are not a Constitutional scholar, nor half as smart as a half wit.

          Article I, Section 8

          The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

          To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

          To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;

          To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;

          To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;

          To provide for the punishment of counterfeiting the securities and current coin of the United States;

          To establish post offices and post roads;

          To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;

          To constitute tribunals inferior to the Supreme Court;

          To define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the high seas, and offenses against the law of nations;

          To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;

          To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years;

          To provide and maintain a navy;

          To make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces;

          To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;

          To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

          To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dockyards, and other needful buildings;--And

          To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.

                • Section 8 also gives government the authority to discipline non mask wearers in the presence of their women folk using corporal means until they cry little tiny tears and then put masks on them and to document the entire thing and post on the net.

                  • From #1 Bubba: "Is whiney nine trying to emulate his buddy Obabble?"

                    It would seem so. I think their constitutional knowledge is about equal, or, on the level of a very slow third grade student.
                    Who red rat is trying to emulate is beyond me, unless it would be either Stan Laural or possibly nasty pelosi. The humor escapes me.

                      As the U.S. hits 200,000 COVID-19 deaths, Trump tells an Ohio rally the coronavirus 'affects virtually nobody'

                        They certainly are being misinformed. 75% of the deaths in this country have taken place in nursing homes. 85% of the deaths in this country have taken place in people with some other life threatening disease. Our media is in the business of misinformation.

                        • 28 years old. and if you had to go to the ER tomorrow they'd treat you the same as anyone else, even though you are endangering them. When I first started following your county there were 3 cases and no deaths. Now there have been 118 cases and 1 death. I'd certainly say someone is in a bubble of misinformation, and it's not doctors and nurses. How many in your county need to die for you to take it seriously?

                          • I'm in Thorne Bay Ak right now rat. We just got our first case last week. As for Venango Co in Pa my wife says the count is still quite low. 28 year olds get hit by cars and die in auto accidents more often than they get sick and die from the CCP flu.

                              So far, 1 death in my county.
                              Uhhmmm.... I've taken COVID-19 seriously since day ONE.

                              That others don't react to the COVID-19 threat in the same manner as you doesn't mean they take it any less seriously than you.

                              You're being a liar in that, "only the way I react is serious and proper. All others should be punished!"

                              What a socialist! Putz!

                                Should we shut the country down because of the number of car accident deaths in which the driver was in their twenties? I'll bet that more drivers in their twenties have car accidents than get bad cases of the CCP bat bogy virus!!!!!
