During a March 11 hearing of the House Oversight and Reform Committee on coronavirus preparedness, Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, put it plainly: "The seasonal flu that we deal with every year has a mortality of 0.1%,” he told the congressional panel, whereas coronavirus is "10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu," per STAT news.

As of today, during this week, covid 19 was the leading cause of death in the US, on a weekly basis. OK, we are at a peak, it wasn't this way at the beginning of April, nor in March, and Jan/Feb were very low, but we are still headed up, the number dying is increasing. Anyone thinks this is a joke just go hang out unmasked by the emergency entrance of a hospital in any major metro. Breath deep. But please don't check in if you get sick. Docs and nurses are working with an overload of patients already.

It is possible that the volume of virus particles that one comes into contact with affects the severity of the disease.

The text doesn't agree with the headline.
                      According to the text:

It’s unclear which strategy will ultimately prove most effective, and even experts in Sweden warn it’s too early to draw conclusions.

I was just sharing that Sweden was doing things different.

We're at around 2800 per day in the US. But of course that's not all. During a normal flu season deaths increase ten to twenty percent. If you look at total number of deaths from most countries with an active infection under way you'll see total deaths are about double the normal rate. People die at home untested, others die on the way to the hospital or of cardiac arrest trying to get a breath. We've just passed 40,000 but we well might have had another 25K uncounted.

It looks like the UK has been spending its money on vaccine research, and may be onto something, starting tomorrow.
                              Let us pray.
