"Forgotten" freedoms?

Have any of you read the First Amendment? ...lately?

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Freedom of movement under United States law. Freedom of movement under United States law is governed primarily by the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the United States Constitution which states, "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States."

Have any of you considered the freedoms that federal, state and local governments have stripped from us lately due to COVID-19?

When do we, as Americans, stop giving up our freedoms in the name of safety?

LA tried to stop gun sales as did New Orleans.

This isn't just about "quarantine in place" or "lock down".

What excuse will the next over the top politician come up with as a reason to restrict citizens movement?

Just a point to ponder.

We are all free people in America and enjoy our freedoms under our Constitution, but with that being said, there are some principals that should be adhered to in regards to safety for all of us. If there are those who wish to not partake in these principals and thus endanger themselves, that is their right. But does that also give them the right to threaten the lives of others, and if some say “yes” it does, then at what point do others take control in their own right of self protection ? If we all live as we want, disregarding others, does that make our country better or worse ? Do we not need to do somethings of common sense that protects the whole of our citizenship ? Or do we just stand alone and say to hell with the protections of others ?

I agree this situation can be considered a slippery slope, but as Richard alludes to with rights come responsibilities. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place right now and the best way to get through it is to pull together. Once we're past it we can argue over how to proceed.

I basically agree with both of you. Bhr and fitch270.
I am very aware of the need to distance oneself from others.
I won't use the term "groups". Contact with only one carrier can/may be sufficient for infection.

What was more on my mind is that the people* who want "us" (U.S.!) to accept "Socialism", need to realize that the current state of affairs is eerily close to the realism of "Socialism".
Lockdowns
Curfews
Stay home orders
Stopping gun sales (LA, NOLA)
No gatherings
Gov't promise of "mo' money"
Travel restrictions, etc, etc........

This goes back to the people who don't "think" for themselves and expect (anticipate?) the Gov't to set restrictions.
I am perfectly aware COVID-19 is real.
I do not want COVID-19.
I am exercising due caution as best I can and still go about my daily, weekly, monthly, annual routine.
But I refuse to live my life in fear of contracting COVID-19.

*people - (D) voters, Bernie, Biden, Hillary followers, etc... the Hollyweird's who say we need to "get used to the word Socialism"!

Failure to comply is a "Class C" felony punishable by fine and imprisonment.
It just makes it easier to do next time someone decides they need to "take control for everyone's best interest"!

That's harsh, we have no travel restrictions! We can go hiking,fishing. Take trips to gun club. I'm in NY! I guess the heat isn't slowing virus down!
