  • Sanders outbids Warren on student loan debt.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has introduced legislation that would entirely cancel all student loan debt for 45 million student borrowers, and finance it through new taxation on financial transactions (stock and bond trades).
Elizabeth (Pocahontas) Warren's plan is more modest in comparison, as it only forgives student debt up to $50,000 for borrowers earning less than $100,000 per year.

I don't know what either one of them intends to do to get the votes of student borrowers from the past who have already paid off their student loans in whole or in part.

BTW, I don't think we can call her Pocahontas anymore.

          Ok, I'll bite. Several things-------
          1. Sanders numbers. Meaningless. When has an introduced tax rate amount not risen exponentially? NEVER. It's just a foot in the door. They always are, regardless of which party introduces them.
          2. When has any fund taking in billions not been raided, misappropriated, siphoned, or diverted through congressional action? NEVER.
          3. The student debt is high because liberal universities hand out worthless humanities and liberal arts degrees like they really are worth something. TRUTH. You have a better chance of getting a job with a Hallmark card or a Wally World gift card.
          4. Letting more misguided youth get suckered into going to college because it's free has but one goal. TO SPEED UP THE INFLUX OF THE BRAINDEAD SOCIALIST INTO OUR VOTING POOL. Universities will become socialist factories.
          5. Those trades he wants taxed aren't the rich, THEY ARE US, or BROKERS WORKING FOR US, with OUR MONEY! OUR RETIREMENT and those charges will come out of OUR POCKET/RETIREMENT.
God, I want to kick his ass.

Well said. Those that got worthless degrees should sue the College or University.

dewman - You are right about the rich investors. They are us.
Many working people are unaware that their 401k accounts at work are investing in the stock and bond markets.

If college/college tuition are "free", who pays instructors and staff?
                Maintains buildings and grounds?
                Provides campus security?
I know there are other costs, these are just the ones that come immediately to mind.

                    dewman, rhetorical questions! LOL!

OF COURSE we know WHO pays!
The taxpaying, lower 3/4 of the income scale!
                    i.e. - you and me!

When did it become unfair to require somebody to pay their own debts, but fair to require me to pay?

If everyone gets a free collage education, how much is it worth? Does it improve the employability over another free education?

And when was the last time having government pay for something didn't result in corrupt billing and rampant misuse?

How about "reparations" for those of us who spent thousands and STILL didn't get a degree?

It is easy to understand the impurities of free this and free that in relation to the world of socialism being proposed by the out-of-touch D’s ! What is not so easy to comprehend is the number of mental midgets who think it will be the answer to all their problems ! When they hear free, all thought of how and who will pay for it is conveniently never brought to mind ! But you can bet that the politicians know. Free lunches are only for non-thinkers,

The Democratic candidates have to run to the left to get the nomination of their party.
Then they have to lean back to the right to have any chance of winning the general election.
Right now, the buzzword is more free stuff from the government.
