  • Firearm Manufacturers can be sued.

Supreme Court rules Firearm Manufacturers can be sued. It is based on how the Manufacturer marketed the firearm. If they said the firearm made them more of a man, they can be sued.

Are you referring to the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Sandy Hook ruling?

This ruling, from the Connecticut Supreme Court, does not dispose of the case.
It merely allows it to move forward to trial. Chances of success are low.

That may be correct 99, but this is the first time a high court has made such a ruling. There could be an important precedent started here, it is a bad beginning for the gun industry possibly.

BHR - You are right, but all it would take to reverse that ruling would be one U.S. federal district court decision on constitutional grounds.
This is a state court ruling against the applicabiIiIty of a federal law.

I heard this on Chris Matthews program and not sure he said. It probably will not stand. It would be like a drunk killing someone and the whiskey company getting sued.

Jimbo - That is true, but in the case of firearms manufacturers, there is a federal statute protecting them.
In the case of whiskey companies, they have only common sense protecting them.

Yeah, state court ruling on a federal law.
Unless the SDNY gets it next, an unbiased court "should" overturn the decision.
If it's upheld, I'm suing Toyota! That's what the woman that hit me head on was driving!

                  Was she texting while driving?
I saw a little girl riding on a tricycle recently, while talking into a toy cell phone, just like mommy.

Any statute can be changed - not worth the paper it is written on.

Thought about that more than once. In the years before I gave it up, never had a chick try to make me take advantage of her. If you can not believe advertisements, what’s the sense of having dreams ? LOL

                            Remember the "Rigid Tool" calendars?
                            ...or a Bob Allen catalog?

The cause of the ‘rigid tool’ was the calendar !
