  • Are you ready to embrace the Green New Deal

“Today is the day that we truly embark on a comprehensive agenda of economic, social and racial justice in the United States of America,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY said alongside Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and other lawmakers outside the Capitol. “That’s what this agenda is all about.”

The plan, which calls for a massive package of big-government proposals including health care for all, quickly picked up the backing of major 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls including Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Cory Booker, D-N.J. -- who all co-sponsored the resolution. (FOX NEWS

Here's a link to the Green New Deal website:
    https://www.gp.org/green_new_deal

Take a look and see what they are proposing. Are you ready for:
    > Guaranteed jobs with at least a living wage for all
    > Single Payer Health Care
    > Free College Tuition
    > Non-profit Utilities
    > Non-profit government run banks
    > Abolish the Electoral College and implement the direct election of the President
    > Allow almost anyone to vote
    > Cut military spending by 50%
    > Eliminate all transportation that uses fossil fuels

    What's your thoughts about this?

I brought this issue up a few weeks ago and it garnered not too much interest, but glad to see PH has opened it again. There might be 1 possible item in this matter that could be of value, but most of the proposals are pretty much out in left field, pun intended ! To my way of thinking it is too radical, but most important is the way it is to be funded, and that is thru the cutting the defense budget in half, and that being at a time that our enemies are strongly increasing theirs ! Even by cutting defense spending, where is the rest of the money going to come from in order to cover other costs ? If this is not a complete agenda for socialism, it surely is a long way from our capalistic form of government !

      "... What's your thoughts
      about this? ..."

      The beginning of the end?
This kind of garbage should be the death of ANY political party in our Constitutional republic, but I fear that even if the (D) party should die a natural death, some other socialist agenda group will rise to power.

Sadly, socialism is a raging forest fire that can't be squelched. No matter how little smoke, hot spots remain that can't be extinguished and will eventually consume everything in it's path.
These brain dead socialist fruitcakes need only look as far as Venezuela to see the eventual effects of "Socialism".
Unfortunately, they will continue down the path of, "Yeah, but we're going to do it differently!" as they continue the insanity of "repeating the same action over and over again expecting a different result each time".

At some point in time, they WILL succeed in their endeavors and America will eventually fold into the smoldering heap of failed socialist nations.

If we could only turn their fervor away from socialism.

It will never happen Bubba. The government has already gone too far to the left tp detour now. The more people are given, the more they will demand, the door can not now be closed. The acceptance of social goodies is too deeply ingrained and everyone wants what others have, the others being those who have worked for it. Greed is unstopable !

EDIT: In order not to confuse people, my “it will never happen Bubba” is in response to his “if we could only turn their fervor away from socialism” comment !

You left out that they are going to eliminate methane gas emitting from cows. Now, I gotta wonder, are they just going to roof over all the feedlots, and siphon the gas off to a constructive purpose, like bottling it and burning it for heat? What are they going to do with all the free range cows? And bulls, and steers, and heifers? And the buffalo, and the deer, elk, moose, caribou? How are these brilliant people going to manage this? Sounds to me like the story about the obummer folks when they were going to repeal the laws of physics!

The majority of american people need to show up and run these turds out of town. They only come up with this crap because nobody resists their stupidity. Everyone will sit at home and watch it happen then be like Wow I cant't believe this is happening. By then its to late.

The original idea about the livestock methane was a "Carbon Tax" per head of livestock.
I wonder how many cubic feet of methane a 5 ton elephant can produce per day?

FWIW, the City of Fort Worth, TX captured the methane off it's digesters and used it to fuel a generator to provide part of the electrical supply for the plant.
Being a waste water treatment facility, there was (is?) a constant flow of digestible "material" to produce methane.

All this could be funded the same way we've always covered our revenue shortfall from taxes - by borrowing in the form of selling more Treasury bonds.
Which is how Donald Trump would pay for the great wall.
He once boasted that he was "the king of debt."

Sadly, just like HRC "won" the popular vote, the Electoral College holds no sway in the halls of Congress.
The (R)'s willingness to "give a little" to "get a little" works to the favor of the (D)'s in that the (D)'s work little amendments in that seem innocent at the time. They aren't.
I honestly believe that the biggest generator of "divisiveness" in today's politics is that the (R)'s are trying to stand up to the (D)'s and its driving the (D)'s, literally, harder left to counter (R) punches.

The methane gas issue Crm brings up the question as to all the people in the world, are we going to now be required to wear fart plugs ? Or maybe the bigger farters should pay a higher fart tax. And will there be a fine for not wearing your fart plug, and who will be in charge of checking that situation ? “What’s your job?” “Oh, I’m a fart plug wearer checker”. Wouldn’t it be simpler to just check the brain power of the D’s first ?

Thanks CRM. I would say more but I am on my way to wait in line for my fart plug. I wonder how they are going to size those things ? S, M, L and D’s size ! Well, it will improve the employment issue hiring measurers. Will that require a free college education do you suppose ?
