What is the best name brand for a red dot scope? I am on a budget and looking for one under $50.

You defiantly get what you pay for with optics. For that budget look at NcStar but you are much better off paying a little bit more.

If you're on a budget, don't cheap out on optics because at the end of the day, your entire hunt depends on you being able to line up the shot...pick something else to cheap out on, but NEVER optics. If you need to, sell some of your old gear that you don't use any more to help fund the purchase.
I cannot recommend a brand because I do not use red dot sights (I don't like having to depend on batteries...they seem to fail when you need them most), but get something decent.

Look into truglo. I've never used a red dot, but going through a Cabelas catalog the other day I noticed truglo had some at really good prices
