So I filled my archery buck tag about a month ago and I hadnt been in the deer woods since untill this weekend. With firearms season coming up next week I figured I'd go and try to shoot a doe and more or less just to scout for next weekend. I sat all day saturday and sunday morning and didnt see a deer... not a single deer. A month ago I would consistantly see 10-12 deer per sit in these stands. These stands have always been consistant rut stands in past seasons so I know their are deer around. I couldnt believe it! My only explination is the deer are already locked down. Surley the deer are not already locked down on the 9th and 10th of November are they? Is anyone else experiencing lockdown symptoms and what part of the country are you in?

Yes very much so. But it could be any number of factors. The rut has been different every year and a lot of the activity happens at night but I haven't seen anything spotting either in the last week. I saw more deer in October than in recent memory though so go figure.

Deer haven't been hitting my feeders lately. Still way too much browse available. Haven't seen any "signs" of the rut, YET!
We're scheduled for a hard (22°F) freeze Wednesday. They should start hitting the feeders by the weekend.

Hobob, What part of the country are you in? My deer season sounds exactly like yours. I was covered up in deer all October and I even saw a little rut activity the October 5th (buck grunting with nose to the ground. Not to mention I heard good reports from last week but now I'm not seeing jack.

change in the food source is usually the reason i will stop seeing deer all together at certain stand sites.

Southern PA every season is different This year I have seen no large bucks at all, Not even on trail cams. However I am seeing many more smaller bucks than in 20 years of hunting. This year is the first time I saw bucks every time I hunted. Until a week ago when it shut down. Other hunters say the same thing.
