If I am ever able to go on a wolf hunt in the future, would there be any reason not take my .300 Savage along? Also, how much damage do you think that cartridge would do to a wolf hide?

It has plenty of energy for wolves. I'll be using Barnes 168g for my wolf hunting to avoid blowing a six inch exit wound. I did taxidermy and patched up some mighty big holes but that usually took sewing in hide patch from other pelts. I wouldn't make the taxidermist do that extra work if I didn't have to. Also, if you tan the hide, you don't want gnarly holes in the pelt. Good luck!
