Valley is the segment of the draw cycle starting when the cam starts to let off and ending when the bow reaches full draw (also called the "back wall"). A long valley lends itself to a smoother draw, but leads to a slower arrow speed. Archers who let the bow "creep" (don't hold it firmly against the back wall) tend to struggle with a shallow valley because the bow will exit the valley sooner and could cause the draw to exit the valley and the draw weight to ramp up dramatically all of a sudden.
