I have both and a 280AI. Anything the 30-06 can do ,rather should do ,the 280 will do. The edge that the 30-06 has lies with a 200-220 grain bullet and in the hands of a skilled reloader and rifleman. This is limited to close range shooting at critters one should use a larger gun for to start with. The 280 with a 160-175,180 bullet outclasses anything the 30-06 can do by BC and the velocity at which it can push said projectiles. With that said is there really any difference? Should you sell your 30-06,270,280 even 7 mag or 300 mag for one of the others. No! Keep or buy what you like and can shoot well. Anyone will kill anything in North America sans the great bears without issue. Perhaps a 300 mag or 06 WILL kill a Grizzly but that's a job better suited for a bigger bullet In my opinion.
