I have the Pendelton Lite Hunter (fixed blade) from Cold Steel and have been happy with it. I think I paid under $20. For an inexpensive folder, I like the Buck “55” model, which is like the buck 110 but, well, about half the size. I think the best price on that is about $30 though.

I purchased a Cold Steel Pendleton Lite Hunter for my son, but spent so much time congratulating myself on the wisdom of my choice that I purchased another for myself. I never purchase anything for my son that I wouldn't use myself.

            Hi...

Cold Steel and Mora have some relatively inexpensive knives, and will keep a good edge.

What might your use for one be?

The only knife I need is your Grandfather's Old Hickory Chef's knife, which is an American Made 1095 forged steel I cannot find one anywhere.

You can find many versions, but rarely a nice chef knife and when you do its 40+ bucks plus shipping.
