How can a senator who ran, and was elected as a republican suddenly decide they want to change parties? If they want to change parties shouldn't they be replaced with a republican since that is who the people elected?? This does not seem fair to the people who elected him.

He had always been a RINO. He is what we call spineless, he will sway which ever way the wind blows him. I hope his constituents are paying attention.

He was loosing in the PA republican primary so he didn't have anything to lose by switching. He was a POS republican anyway and typically voted against any conservative legislation. I say good riddance.

As stated above, he was almost a Dem. even as a Republican. I guess he's been watching too much TV and believing the hype.

Political parties were a fairly late addition to the American political system. Almost all of the founding fathers firmly opposed forming parties. (man, I wish we had taken their advice on sooooo many things, including this one)

For this reason, we vote for a particular person for office, not a party. As far as the law is concerned the party is just a label, it has no more meaning than saying that a politician is "funny" or "charismatic".

As for the party, I agree with teufelhunden and jay, this guy voted against the republican party on a lot of key issues lately, including the stimulus bill. Its really not much of a loss. This is why he is loosing the republican primary for his seat by something like 20 points.

Used to have politicians who stood for something, now we have politicians who fight for nothing other than re-election.

The people elected a person. It is too bad that the person has to align himself with a party more so than with the people he is supposed to be representing.

The two-party system has to go!!

He always was a POS RINO good riddance. On the other hand if That idiot Al Frankenstein manages to steal a senate seat in Minnesota the Socialists will have 60. For now it looks like the dark side is winning with the help of a leftist press.

Del, you are right. Scary ain't it? As long as Obama's teleprompter is working, there's nothing he can't accomplish.

As my Grandfather used to say, "if politicians were not a necessary evil there would be a bounty on them!"
