We have an abundance of red oak in the Midwest where I live. It burns well if it is seasoned. I like to occasionally throw a single log of hedge in the fireplace to compliment the red oak. I would like to put a heavy emphasis here on the word "single". Hedge burns super hot, so a person has to use extreme caution to not put too many hedge logs in the fireplace or you will risk burning your house down.
