In the summer of 1962, for $21, I purchased a J.C. Higgins single shot, bolt action .22 which, I believe, was made for Sears by Marlin. It served well for some time, and I sold it to my best friend as his first .22, using the proceeds as part of the purchase price on a Marlin 39A lever action.

My grand father left me a Colt Navy pistol when he died. I was two, but that was the first gun I owned. I had several bb guns and air rifles after that. At 7 I started hunting with my own firearm and I got a remington 1100 20 ga. and a remington 700 22-250.

Mossberg 500 16 ga. with a corn cob on the end of the barrel and about 1.5 inches cut off the stock. Couldn't hit a dang thing with it.
