I have started to loose hair on the backside of one my Mule deer mounts ears. I was wondering if there are types of mites that could be causing this. If so is there any way to treat this problem?

I'd call or visit the taxidermist who did the mount (perhaps improperly).

There is a type of insect that will eat the hair off your mount. One way to get rid of them is to deep freeze your mount (about -10 F) for a few hours to kill the insect and eggs. The other option is to try a flea and tick spray, it should kill the insects but not the eggs so you will want to do it about every three weeks for about five treatments. Those insects can travel from mount to mount so make sure to check over your other mounts.

Go back to the taxidermist who did the mount for sure!

Good article on pressure testing. It takes about 40 hours to test for one caliber and bullet weight with about 16 types of powder.
