      The .223 is a fine choice for coyotes! I'd say the same for several other cartridges, but the .223 will not disappoint you if you do your part and place the bullet decently.

        Good deer rifle too in the hands of a good shooter and 55 grain pluss soft points!

                      Yes. Although the military uses this round in combat, the old charts for .223 listed it as a "varmint round", meaning 70 pounds and less.

                        I know a guy that hunts deer with the .223, brain shots but I wouldn't recommend it for deer. Just my opinion, I think it is a little light. I think it is an excellent choice for coyotes.

                            Yes, I use a Remington 788 chambered in 223 and it works great.
