I was riding my bike to the lake earlier today when I saw an animal in a field off the side of the road. assuming that it was a fox I stopped to look at it. it was all gray, had a very short snout, a long skinny tail, and hardly any ears. it kind of had a canine look to it, but the proportions were off. looked to be about 25 -30 inches long without the tail, and maybe 20 pounds.

It could have been a yote pup with mange, I suppose. please, no one else try to tell me it was a possum. I have seen countless possums and this was not one.

I suspect coyote with mange too. The long legs go with that.

Depending on the location it could have even been a weasel or mink. They have been known to wander around water, and for that matter it could have even been an otter.

A long skinny tail and long legs with a short snout can only mean one thing.
And I don't know what it is.
