Will shooting .177 pellets backwards hurt a spring piston air rifle. i know that their not as accurate and they do fragment on impact. just wondering cause my friend thinks they will hurt his gun.

They will not hurt anything except accuracy. The cone is for sabilizing the pellet in flight nothing more. As for sealing the pellet. Not likely as the pressue from a pellet rifle is not enough to disort the lead casing and the pellet is soft enough to follow the rifling in the barrel. The rifling is not that deep and the pellet is not that big to make a difference.
