    I like the .22 long rifle either in a rifle or pistol. that way all the meat behind the head can be eaten.

      #6's in 12 gauge, because that's the only shotgun I own.

      Or Federal Bulk hollow points in the Ruger 10/22.

        I use #6's in 12 ga and 16 ga. So long as you allow for longer range (20 yds +) you won't ruin the squirrel. But I usually use a .22 long rifle.
