Alot of it depends on what you plan to trap and the methods you plan to deploy. I mostly went after raccoon and I used a fish on a stick; place the sets in about 6 inches of water and place the stick in the ground out in the water so the critter has to walk out into the water. This is a very fast method and only takes about 5 minutes to set up.

If you plan to skin and stretch your pelts; you'll need a fleshing log and fleshing knife. I took a log that was about 16 inches in diameter and cut it in half long ways and put a large hook on the end. Make sure you remove all the fat before you put it on the stretcher. With fur prices the way they are I don't find it economical to skin and stretch so I just take my catch to the fur buyer unskined.

Im sure other guys will tell you about all the must have stuff but things that make trapping a bit easier are as folows: a knee pad that you might use for gardening is great for all the kneeling, a canvas bag with different pockets help to keep it all organized, something waterproof and away from things you care about is a must for your scents(that smell really lingers)a small hand broom is great for evenign out the dirt over your trap.

It all depends on what your trapping and how you plan to trap. I'm an avid raccoon trapper and have wasted alot of money on unnecessary equipment... I use coil spring traps and carry my steaks, wire, baits, scents, hammer and needle nose pliers in a duffle bag. It has always worked fine for me. If you get a chance check out "cumberlands northwest trappers supply" that's where i order all of my supplies. Good luck!
