  • Books for Christmas

If anyone's shopping books for an outdoorsman in your family, I just saw that Amazon has the three old Ben East Outdoor Life adventure books, Survival, Danger, and Narrow Escapes and Wilderness Adventures. All collections of original Outdoor Life articles from the 50s and 60s, I think. Lots of true accounts of hunters and fishermen lost in the Canadian wilds, stranded at sea, dying of snakebite in the bottom of a canyon ... all that good stuff.

Just an idea, figured I'd throw it out there.

If anyone is a true outdoors "person", any Peter Hathaway Capstick book is a grand read and anything by Gene Hill is good.
I'm sure there are many more, but I find those two authors extremely readable.

Horn of the Hunter by Robert Ruark is a good read.
