Very open area and little browse. Has this spot been productive in the past ?

With a number like "2020", I don't see much future in my hunting this fall.
              Oh well, maybe next fall.
Good luck to everyone, regardless of game or method.

Yesterday I went to a large WMA to scout for archery hunting spots, (our season starts on the 15th). I carried the Henry .22 magnum just in case I saw pigs, the suppressed Ruger Mark III in case I saw squirrels.

The trip was a bust. The food plots have not been planted this year and I don't know why. But, that definitely changes early season deer patterns and has screwed up some of my possible stand placements. I saw a couple of squirrels and took a shot at one with the handgun. Ha! I missed 7 times as it was scrambling up a tree but it sure was fun! The bullet impacts on the tree were louder than the muzzle report.

Later, I was working through a thick creek bottom on the way back to the Xterra and caught a whiff of swine. But the wind kept shifting and I wasn't able to find any pigs. They had been rooting in the area so it might have just been the smell of scat.

I've got a couple of bowhunting spots in funnel areas that I'll use, starting in a few weeks.
