About your only choice if you want it to is to take it to a gunsmith. They should be able the thread it to take a choke. If you don't want to spend the money you'll just have to live with it.

Herbie hit it on the head. You could also have them put a variable choke on. My grandad had one on his 870 for as long as I can remember and he loved it.

        Chris,

You might want to look for a good used shotgun with removable choke tubes. The cost of threading and purchasing aftermarket tubes will probably approach the cost of a used Mossberg or Remington 870 express.

If you wish to stick with the single shot then check out http://www.colonialarms.com/. They can do the work and supply the tubes.

Add a Cutts Compensator. Cheaper than buying another shotgun.

If you really like that gun then find a good gunsmith to sweat you a choke tube in there, I had it done on my 10 guage. If not then get a Remington 870 or 11-87 depending on your budget..

i would either get a new gun or take it to the gun smith and have them thread it

Trade the gun in for a new one.

II wonder if the gun is an Ultra-Slugger? Obviously wouldn't put a choke on it. also, if it's a fixed choke, maybe the right shot could fix some of his problems. Want a tighter pattern? Mayb use Federal loads like Black Cloud. the wad takes you up a level of choke. Just a thought. Good Luck.

If it's not the choke you want, you can have it rebored. Yet, that may cost as much as a new single shot with the choke you want!
