  • I took my boy out on a bow hunt in a ground blind this fall. Had a doe come in, he was quiet and he had fun and I had a great time. He is 3, it was his birthday request.
Best hunt of the year. Took my girls when they were 5 (twins).

    • My father started taking me when I was 4, this was one of the best things for me he taught me the ethics and safety of hunting and carrying and using a firearm. By the time I was 9 I then started actually hunting with a gun. Take your children starting at a young age, but teach them the ethics, and safety, and most importantly how to be quiet and patience!

        • It depends on the child the maturity level and how the child feels about hunting someone who is interested is going to be easier to teach than someone who is being pushed into it

          • It is really depending on the maturity of the kid. Also as long as your teaching proper gun and range safety and the kid knows and understands these two inportant things it really doesnt matter the age. I bring my 5 year old with me and he is exctied to try some squirrel hunting.

All "you people" are crazy! If you think an 8 year old is ready to kill something is something wrong with you. I know you "hunting people" think non hunters don't get it,and hunting about "respect" and reason "why your doing it" but its life you are killing! Theses kids that are being manipulate to hunt are ending a life! Mentally a child is not ready for that! It is desensitizing the child to respect life! They are one step closer to killing a person! Be very proud of yourselves hunters! Because you really need that deer, turkey or squirrel meet to live? Or could you go to acme? Its not colonial times! Your just sadistic freaks! I know,

At about 6, he would aim and hold the gun and allow me to pull the trigger. This allowed me to be a part of the experience and let me have a sense of pride that i took part in putting meat on the table. After that, he would let me "Stand guard against bobcats and poachers" while he went to go get the truck. Again making me feel like i had really helped him out and getting me more and more interested in hunting. Taking me out in the rut was also a wonderful time to teach me about where babies come from (i was 11). I was 9 years old when i shot my first deer and by the age of 14, i could hunt by myself as my father taught me sportsmanship and safety at such a young age.
                  Sportsmanship? Yeah right? !?

So I will probably take him out "viewing" soon just to give him a taste of the sport. But the goal will be to hike through the woods and sit on a deer stand and have a snack. Make it a lot of fun and build up from there.
Yes, make sure you get him out early enough so you can groom the psychopath!

                          • It depends entirely on the individual. Some boys and girls are different than others.

                            • This year I took out my 4 yo daughter for her first whitetail hunt. I’m fully aware that she does not yet have the capacity to understand all that goes into this experience but she had such an insatiable desire that I thought it best to give her a taste. So far it seems to have only strengthened that desire and I’m confident that I made the right choice.

Seriously, Trump wants to have Biden arrested, along with Hillary and Obama.
