What do you think is the best state to hunt whitetails?

Wisconsin. Huge variety in habitat. Big North woods, farm country, swamps and marshes, and the famous Buffalo county. Can't go wrong with the badger state.

While I agree with everything that has been said, I am surprised no one has mentioned Michigan for big deer. For sheer numbers of deer I would go with Texas, Mississippi,or Alabama. Those states cannot rival the size of the midwest deer but, they post respectable numbers of B&C bucks every year.

My Oppinion is you go to Iowa for the big bucks and you go to Minnesota for alot of small ones

Well based on the number of B&C entries, it would have to be Iowa. Based on P&Y entries, it would have to be either Wisconsin or Illinois.

Pennsylvania is an overlooked state we've got more hunters than any other state by far but truth be told most of those hunters are only out there for a couple days a year and the antler restriction is helping to produce some dandies here!

Southern Michigan

DNR says the southern lower michigan is over populated and that includes all the counties where 80% or more of the record bucks were taken in michigan.

Lots of really big deer is still good right?

I like Michigan for access to the deer herd, we don't have the real big ones, but we have allot. If I did not live here I would hunt Wisconsin or Iowa.

Naturally people are going to say what the best places to hunt bucks are, but if you want does, come to North Dakota. There is leftover doe tags every year.
