    RJ Arena,
New Jersey took an eight hundred plus pound black bear in 2011 for a new state record.
The northeastern states have harvesta few monster black bears within the last five years. Including New York and Maine.

    Rocky,
Black bears can breed with other species of bears.
Check out this website a european Brown bear and a Black Bear had three cubs. Scroll down and check out the breeding map on bears doing it with other bears.

Gary, you know how big those Pa Black Bears get, Grizzly size or better, I think if those Blackies and a grizzly got together some midnight magic might happen! ;-)

Gary. I would call it dead.

I only had 1 fishing trip to Alaska many years ago, but I distinctly remember a ranger telling me that a grizzly will hunt down and kill any black bear in an area, that it senses (smells, I guess).

I saw 1 black bear while I was there and it was running like hell across a glacier. Hmmm. Wonder what that means?

What would they call the cub from a young grizzly boar and a big sow black bear?

    A bizzly?

Pizzly are white on top and fade to a brown toward the legs and paws. Both have long necks and gigantic nails. Google Pizzly as they have pictures of them.

And they thought polar bears would go extinct. Mother nature always finds a way. That way may not favor humans, but always a way.

I have to wonder if they are striped or do they have spots? And are they brown on white or white on brown?
I think that when solid colored dogs of different colors mate, 25% of the offspring favor the sire and 25% favor the dam, while 50% are of mixed colors.
    Just sayin.'

Has anyone heard of or seen a Pizzly? Cross of Polar Bear and a Grizzly. Pizzly when father is a Polar Bear, Grolar if the father is a Grizzly. DNA examination has confirmed they are fertile. They exhibit traits of both species and have some coloration of both white and brown. Scientists believe they have come about because the range of each has been pushed closer and closer together because of Climate conditions.
