Gary,
I also have a scent pad on a boot and I usually drag a scent behind my ATV. The Code Blue dispenser can be set so it dispenses scent all night long.
With all the attention to scent, I have seen deer walk right by where I left a bowel movement and never look alarmed. I have also seen them walk right up to my ATV and take a sniff.
In another post we have had a deer appear when several of us would be talking about where we are going to hunt - suddenly someone would say, hey look, a deer is looking at us. Ever had that happen?
In Letchworth State Park one time I saw 100 deer in one day. In a ground blind I had one walk up behind me to within 5' - did not get a shot.
I think scent control is hit or miss, especially for rifle hunters.

What brand of scent lures have you had the most success with during the rut?

Jhjimbo, thank you.
I have an unopened bottle of Code Blue that I bought last fall. I'll never buy two at a time again.
My friend sprayed his Buck Bomb in a well used deer scrape at noon time and he set up his trail camera. Four hours later a nice size black bear smelled the scrape on the trail cam photos.
Maybe they should call it Bear and Buck Bomb.

Thanks for that Jhjimbo- that's a common question. Glad you took the time to call, and also took the time to tell us!

FYI, I called Code Blue regarding shelf life and she said if it is kept closed and stored in a cool place it will be good for a couple of seasons.

af34, another vote for Code Blue.
My favorite Code Blue is the "Doe in Estrus". It works like a strong magnet on bucks and it pulls them in.

None. I plop myself in a travel corridor where does frequently pass through during the rut and let hot does do all the work for me with all natural, fresh doe-in-heat scent.

As Jhjimbo said; code blue. One deer, one bottle. Three of the best whitetail hunters I know also swear by it, and all hunt different big woods in Maine, shooting large bucks successfully, year after year after year.

Speaking of Buck bomb and vanilla, has anyone had any luck using the buck bomb vanilla, or acorn rage? I have tried them both before but only once and didn't see any results.

I had a buck follow a scent trail that I made with doe in estrus scent from buck bomb.

Golden estrous has worked for me in the past. But the best scent that I have had the most luck with a put vanilla extract on a drag and wick.

I use Code Blue with the electronic dispenser and also some Tink's.

Doe in estrus made by wildlife research. I use it with a drag going to the stand, hang them about twenty yards from the stand so the the breeze go blow the scent though out the area and have the buck well in shooting range.
