This has ruffled the feathers of several bow hunting organizations in Ohio but I really like the idea. In fact, I have several out of state friends coming on Friday night to doe hunt on Saturday and Sunday. Having a big bash Saturday night, hopefully with fresh backstrap.

This is a great change as the previous Muzzle Loader was in January - Buuurrrr. I'll be out bright and early.

Buckhunter, I can just imagine! I'm a deer hunter, I don't go out looking for the big boys I'm looking for meat and if a doe steps into range I will take the shot without hesitation however I know plenty of others who would not and are also now P'd off after I informed them of this. They were planning on hunting the bucks who got pushed off of adjoining land. As for me I will enjoy my doe if I am lucky enough.

Good luck this weekend Buckhunter and JhJimbo.

In my opinion, this wasn't a "good idea", other than not "spooking" the herd before the original smoke pole season with the extended shotgun season.
We hunt mostly hardwood ridges, the leaves were so thick.... 50 yards was a "great view".
Edgelines, powerlines, clearcuts, etc. may be better, back in the holler just didn't get it.
