    Yes if you have a motor on it you have to register it. It is like six dollars. In the lay out you only have to register it if you are taking it on state park lakes or ponds. If you are in the river you do not need to register it. Good luck and happy fishing.

      IND_NRA is right, I had to get my john boat registered to put a trolling motor on it but like he said, it was pretty painless
