Arrow tips are weighed in grains. The higher the grain the heavier the tip. Heavier tips often penetrate better, while lighter tips shoot flatter. This is a very brief description, but pretty well covers it. Once you decide on a certain weight "grain" tip you would like to shoot adjust your pins for different distances and if you change tip weights or arrow weights you will have to adjust your pins again.
