    Ok guys, I am fixing to buy a rifle and I need you guys to decide the caliber for me between a .308 and a 30-06. I hunt in the southeast in hill country and the longest shot I will ever take is about 300 yards -The Kid

    I used a .308 when I was in AK and had more than enough accuracy and range i think 30-06 is a little overkill unless you are taking longer shots. If you look at the ballistic tables between .308 and .30-06 you don't see a very big different unless you are taking shots over 300 yards.
