Should work fine. You might have to vary the load up of down to find your best accuracy.

You are going to want a faster rate of twist for the sabots, Hawkens come with a 1in48 to realy get sabots to shoot to there full potential you need a 1in28 You can get replacement bareles from Green Mountain I have seen them in Cabelas or you could order directly from Green Mountain. Hope this helps good hunting.

My favorite load is 82 grns with a patched round ball. For the life of me I can't remember how much my round balls weighs. I bounced it up to 90 and just got more kick so I went back to 82.

Sure you can do that. I had a T/C Hawkin in .50 and I would usually give it up to 100 grains of ffg, np problemo. As far as Sabots go I had a bunch of .45 wadcutters that I slipped into .50 sabots and the Hawkin threw em downrange quite accurately. I swapped the Hawkin for a lighter shorter smokepole because I didn't want to try to drag that Hawkin gun upa tree with me. That Hawkin sure is purty though. Didn't loose any money on it either...
