hey GA boys and girls, what national forest/WMA is good for wild hogs? Time of year and tactics? I don't know how much longer I will be in the peach state so would like to bag a wild piggy before I go. I hunt Redlands now but I have not seen much in the way of hog sign.

The guys at Wildlife Services said the coastal island WMAs are good for hogs. Sapelo was one that was specifically mentioned...can't remember the other one.

If you're serious about it, try checking on the GON website (forum.gon.com/). There's a good community of folks there just like there is here but a majority of them are from GA and will have good information on where you can find hogs. Good luck, and before you leave Athens, we need to go have beers sometime!

I don't hunt hogs at all, but I can tell you that farmland in the central to deep south parts of Georgia are probably better for hogs than wooded areas.

BTW I hate to hear that your leaving, I sure hope you're not headed to NY or another state like that or you'll never afford to hunt again!

I've hunted deer on Ocmulgee WMA and saw lots of fresh hog sign. I understand they have quite a few but haven't hunted them there though. I went on a nice paid hunt with Addison Hog Hunting in Abbeyville, GA... lots of big boars there.

I've heard phenomenal things about Ft. Stewart in Hinesville.
