My only experience with a ceramic blade is a kitchen paring knife.
      They are absolutely "amazing"!
OHH would NEVER touch one! They are absolutely "RAZOR" sharp and don't dull! Mine is nearly 4 years old and slices tomatoes effortlessly!

      There are some cautions:
      EXTREMELY SHARP! USE WITH CAUTION!
Don't use on a glass cutting board.

What I "don't" know, is how hardy or durable they would be in the "outside" world?
I also understand they "must" be returned to the manufacturer for sharpening. It's not a DIY project! I'd like to hear about some experience in the outdoor world, too!

I do not like them, I have owned a couple and have sold them, they are very brittle. They are very sharp,I do not recommend them for field use.

I was looking on e-bay and there are some nice Boker ceramic blade knives. Sporting and home use. One folder with carbon fiber handles looked interesting. Price range was $35 to $65.

I didn't know they made knives in ceramic. However, I always use ceramic tips in my sandblaster. It lasts like 10x the lifespan of a steel tip. So I would imagine that the edge on a ceramic knife would last forever.
