Is there any differences in performance between a recurve bow and a long bow?

Bows of equal draw weight should give similar results. Howard Hill was one of the greatest archers of all time and he used a long bow. Howard did the archery trick shots in several movies.
One advantage of the recurve is they are more compact than a long bow.

Recurve limbs are wider and store more energy than long bow limbs which make the recurve a more powerful bow. Longbows are more accurate because of the smoother path of the string and the more rigid limb tips. Grab the end of a recurve and you can twist the limb a little. Grab the end of a long bow and the tip does not twist. This is why you see many trick shooter handle the longbow.
