I am way more of a hunter. Back when I was guiding elk and mule deer (pre marriage) in Colorado I got a bad taste in my mouth for some of the "shooters" that would book hunts at the lodge. For me it is all about the hunt, the outdoors, the animals, the effort, but for a lot of these guys and some girls it was all about ballistics, and ammo and $3000 rifles with $2000 scopes. The elk or deer was just another target and many would rather take a 500 yard shot than a 50 yard shot. I didn't like guiding those types.

I would consider myself both. I spend a lot of time loading, testing and shooting before a hunt. That's an equal part of the (fun) process for me. The practice usually makes the shot the least challenging part of the hunt, by far. As it should be.
Even with wingshooting, I find the practice beneficial in clearing my mind, allowing me to come up with believable excuses for my misses when the hunt comes.

I am foremost a hunter, have a hunch would shoot a whole lot less if I could not stalk game. Strongly feel hunters have an obligation to the animals they pursue to become the best shot they are capable of to kill cleanly and quickly. Still have an interest in ballistics and a wide variety of firearms.

I love but hunting ALWAYS comes first. My hunting "career" started as curiosity which then turned into something much stronger and much more passionate. There's just something about outwitting an animal and harvesting it that just drives me wild and makes me want to do it more. I love shooting, especially skeet but hunting always beats shooting! A

I love to hunt, and will hunt almost everything with-in my abilites. But i really do have a good time shooting too. Weather it is with a couple of friends in a friendly competition or on a bench in a gravel pit alone it is a really enjoyable past time for me. My wife bought me an automatic thrower because she was getting tired of throwing for me. I guess im real similar to Happy. But i spend many more hours hunting than I do shooting.
