What is the all around best large game hunting caliber? Has to be versatile and good for black bear, deer, and hogs.

    Note that these are all .30 caliber... an excellent caliber for game in the range you mention and all the way up to elk. If I had to choose one chambering in that caliber for the game you describe it would be the 30-06. You can see why it has endured the test of time... it is very flexible in range of bullets and power for a broad range of game. If you reload and use the 110g bullets at 3400 fps, it is even a great varmint rifle.
