Anyone ever kill a hybrid mule deer-whitetail cross? I know two people who have but I am not sure I have ever seen a live one although they apparently exist locally.

My father-in-law killed a deer in 1958 that he always claimed was 1/2 whitetail and 1/2 mulie. It was a very nice typical 8 point whitetail rack but the deer had those big mule deer ears. No solid evidence to back this up, just his experience. I've heard from different sources over the years that mule deer were tried in our area in that time frame but they didn't pan out for one reason or another.

My 12 year old daughter. Her first hunt, her first shot and her first deer this past Halloween. 248 pounds, 6 point with a 14 inch kicker; We thought she had harvested a 6-7 year old white tail but my brother was bothered by how short the legs were (he was videotaping - I mean it was her first hunt) . they later determined that it was not a 7 year old white-tail but a 4-1/2 year old mule/white tail cross. She was hunting up in the panhandle of Texas near Shamrock.
