I'm moving into the Akron area, I've heard ther are alot of farms up there, do you think they(farmers) would trade labor for access. I also bow hunt/muzzle-load. Thanx again for all your help Shane.

OK well actually down on the kentucky border is Shawnee
State Forest, and in Muskingum County near Zanesville is the Dillon Wildlife Area. Also, see about areas near or in the state parks where you can hunt. See Salt Fork or Deer Creek. I'm not too good with this public land thing. I'm lucky and know a lot of the people that own the prime areas.

Ohio huh? Good choice. Wayne National Forest in the Southeast is pretty killer. Meigs, Monroe, and especially Washington County are pretty supreme. Licking and Knox County in central are awesome as well.

Thanks guys especialy you Mr.Bourjaily, I'm looking at that "new" Burris scope for shotgun/slugs w/ the range comp. Konw anything about this? I'm also thinking after mkt. barrel (rifled) from Mossberg. Ohio is the state by the way. Any good areas(public)?

Keeping shots to 75 yards with Foster slugs is sound advice. Rifled barrels and sabot slugs will increase your range to 150 yards. Winchester XP3, Hornady SST, Remington Copper Solid and Accu-Tip have all shot very well for me from rifled barrels.

No matter what combination you get, I still consider slug guns to be 100-150 yard propositions. Don't push it.

Try to get a cantilever rifled slug barrel, put a scope on it, and shoot some kind of sabot slug. I honestly don't know much about the latest sabot slugs. I still use foster style slugs and shoot 75 and under.
